Bien sûr je me délecte de celles que je reçois, j'adore regarder encore et encore les motifs, les embossages du papier s'il y en a, le design.
Là il s'agit d'en fabriquer, pour disperser un peu de joie chez vos futurs destinataires !
At this point in time I'm completely obsessed with handmade cards... it's fully in line with my love of paper, photographs and texture.
Of course I love receiving beautiful cards and I stare at the patterns and design. I love to touch the paper and feel the embossed parts if any.
Here we will make some cards of our own, to delight the future recipients: yes, good old snail mail can bring more delightful things than bills!
Attention je vous préviens, c'est gravement addictif !! J'étais partie pour une ou deux, j'ai non seulement fini mon premier set de 8, mais j'ai continué sur de la cartonette de récupération, une bonne quinzaine de plus :-)
A word of caution: this is highly addictive! I started by one or two, quickly went through the first set of 8, and could not stop until I hit the bottom of my stash of strong colourful paper that was left from our wedding.
Pour faire vos cartes, il vous faudra :
- des cartes vierges (ici trouvées chez Aktion aux Pays-Bas), vous pouvez également en faire de la dimension que vous voulez avec du papier coloré, des dossiers de couleur recyclés, ...
- des cartes imprimées envoyées par vos oeuvres caritatives préférées (ici Amnesty International, Action contre la Faim, les Petits Frères des pauvres, ...) ; vous pouvez aussi utiliser des images découpées dans des magazines, ou tout type d'imagerie qui vous attire.
For your cards you will need:
- blank cards (here coming from Aktion in the Netherlands) - you can also do your own cards thanks to strong colorful paper or recycled colorful folders
- printed cards sent as gifts by your beloved charities (here Amnesty International, Action against Hunger, ...) .You can also use images from magazines that you've cut out, or any kind of imagery that appeals to you.
Mais aussi :
- de bons ciseaux
- une perforatrice ronde (optionel : la mienne est encore cachée dans les cartons du déménagement)
- une perforatrice qui arrondit les coins (optionel)
- un bâton de colle
- des "coins photos" (optionel, mais vraiment génial si vous en avez ! ça colle papier sur papier bien mieux et plus proprement que le stick de colle)
- des rubans variés de washi tape (optionel : j'ai enfin utilisé ceux que j'avais acheté chez Carrefour, qui collent assez peu mais ça suffit pour cet usage)
- du papier blanc (papier ramette pour imprimante, ou le recyclage du dos blanc des cartes)
You'll also need:
- good cisors
- a big round hole punch (this is optional, mine is lost in the middle of our moving boxes)
- a rounded corner squeeze punch (this is optional but handy)
- a glue stick
- sticky dots for photos (it's optional but it's mess-free... unlike the glue stick)
- various washi tapes (I finally started using the ones I bought years ago - not high quality but it's enough here)
- white paper (either plain copying paper or you can recycle the back of the cards)
Découpez deux ou trois cercles de taille différente dans vos cartes, ainsi que quelques bandes assorties. Taillez les bords des bandes en pointe ou en flêche.
Cut out two or three circles of various sizes into each card ; cut out also a few strips and cut the borders at an angle.
Collez d'abord un rectangle de papier blanc, aux coins arrondis si vous le souhaitez, puis disposez votre disque et vos bandes comme vous le voulez. Ajoutez un petit message si ça vous dit !
Petit détail : décorez également l'intérieur de la carte, et l'enveloppe, avec un disque issu de la même carte.
Glue a rectangle of plain white paper (you can round the angles if you wish) on the plain-color card. Then glue the printed disk and the strips arranged in a pleasing fashion. Add a sentiment if you'd like to.
Small detail: it's best to also decorate the inside part of the card, as well as the envelope, with a smaller disk from the same printed card.
Et voilà, la série commence à s'allonger...
The addiction begins...
Une vue d'ensemble : les cartes d'origine sont dans des couleurs du rose à l'aubergine très foncé, avec une irisation métallique qui se marie bien avec mon thème floral.
Full view: the base cards have a shiny / iridiscent metallic finish which goes well with my floral theme.
Après je n'ai pas pu m'arrêter là : j'ai utilisé des restes de papier fort (180g je crois) orangé de notre mariage, pour faire tout un tas de cartes.
La plupart s'ouvrent de façon inhabituelle, vers le haut (et pas vers la gauche).
Then I could not stop: I used my stash of left-overs from my wedding. Bits and pieces of orange cardstock used to cut cards that fold in an unusual fashion: they fold to the top instead of to the left.
Et le petit détail qui fait toute la différence : à l'intérieur des cartes, un rappel du motif extérieur.
Again the small charming detail: on the inside of the card you find the same pattern as outside.
